Seasonal Wildflower Season in Texas

Three weeks, and then it's gone until next spring.

20 frames·Central Texas — bluebonnet and poppy fields

Bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and the poppy fields that most people drive past without stopping. Wildflower season in Central Texas is short, crowded and completely worth it — so we scout the fields early, book on weekdays, and never trample a patch to get a picture. Families, maternity, seniors, dogs.

Scouted, not stumbled into.

The good fields change every year and the roadside ones are wrecked by Easter. We find them early, we go on a weekday, and we stay out of the flowers.

Bluebonnets, three weeks a year

The whole state books the same fortnight. Going early in the season and early in the evening is the entire trick.

Chapter 02

Announcing it in a field

Maternity and wildflower season overlap for a reason. The light is soft, the background does the work, and nobody has to be told where to stand.
