The Domain
A district built to be walked through at dusk.
The Domain is north Austin's outdoor center — streets rather than a mall, with plaza planting, string light in the oaks and a wall of new build behind it. Everything here is lit deliberately, which makes the hour after sunset the point: the trees come up, the ground goes warm, and the whole district turns into a set somebody else paid to build. We shoot architecture, brand work, headshots and street here.
Private property, publicly walkable. Anything with a crew or a tripod, we clear it first.

There is a window of about twenty minutes when the sky is still blue and the string light is already reading. Everything good here happens inside it. Turn up an hour early and scout, because you do not get a second pass.

It is also a lot of advertising.

Retail frontage here is glass, stone and light on a timer. Shoot it after close and there is nobody in it.
We wanted it to look like the brand belonged in the city rather than pasted onto it. That is the whole reason we shot on location.
