Mayfield Park sits above Lake Austin next to Laguna Gloria — a small preserve of walled gardens, lily ponds and a stone cottage, with a flock of peafowl that has the run of the place. It is free, it is compact, and it gives you architecture, water and deep shade within about eighty yards. The birds are not a bonus feature; they will walk into your frame and you will be glad.
Free and unbookable — it is a public park. We work around whoever else turns up, feathered or otherwise.
