The Pennybacker Bridge carries Loop 360 over Lake Austin on a single steel arch, and the reason people shoot here is the bluff on the north side — an unofficial trail up the rock that puts you level with the arch, with the lake running away underneath. It is a short climb and a steep one, there is no railing, and the payoff is the widest view in the city that you can reach in ten minutes.

There is nothing to build here and nothing to bring. You climb, you find the rock that gives you the arch over the subject's shoulder, and you shoot until the sun drops behind the hills.

We got up there about forty minutes before sunset and there were maybe six other people on the whole rock.
