Red Bud Isle
A small island under the dam, mostly run by dogs.
4 frames·Red Bud Isle, Lady Bird Lake, Austin
Red Bud Isle sits in Lady Bird Lake below Tom Miller Dam — a few acres of shade, a loop trail and a rock shoreline you can walk right down to. It is off-leash and it is busy, and it is also one of the quietest-looking backgrounds in the city once you get down to the water. Sessions here are short, close and unfussy, which suits the place.
Four acres, and all of it usable.
Trees close overhead, water on every side, and no horizon to manage. A small park photographs bigger than it is when you shoot toward the shoreline.

Put a one-year-old on warm rock beside green water and the session runs itself.
We picked it because it is five minutes from the house. We did not expect it to look like that.

Let's make you the story.
