Graduation & Prom
Four years, one afternoon, about forty photos that last.
Grad portraits at the Tower, prom on the boardwalk, the party in the backyard afterwards. We know which UT spots are worth the walk and which are a queue, we shoot fast enough to keep a nervous eighteen-year-old comfortable, and we get the family groupings before anyone's hair gives up.
The campus everyone shoots, done properly.
There are maybe six good backdrops on that campus and everyone uses all six. The difference is time of day, where you stand, and not making them pose like a brochure.
Cap and gown
Stoles, cords, the dog who had to be in one. These are the frames the grandparents get.
She hates having her photo taken and she has already printed three of these. That has never happened before.
Prom
An hour of photos before a night nobody wants photographed. We work quickly, in the good light, and then we get out of the way.
And then the party
The bit that actually gets remembered — the long table, the sign nobody proofread, the cake.
